Brandon Pettigrew – Tight End – Oklahoma State Cowboys (Big 12)

Well, Brandon Pettigrew is a bad bad man.
He was busted in January for cursing and assaulting a police officer – shortly after he announced he’d stay another year and finish his degree.
He likes education, but also likes fighting cops. I guess they cancel each other out, and eliminate any attitude problems Pettigrew may have.
Anyways, this year’s draft class doesn’t seem to have crazy Vernon Davis / Dustin Keller-type freakishness.
There are however a good amount of very solid, very reliable, prototypical tight ends. Pettigrew leads this class.

Pettigrew missed 4 games, and didn’t play much vs. Baylor, yet still put up comparable stats to last year.
His average was down, as were his touchdowns but Pettigrew had some of his biggest games when they mattered the most. His averages went down, but thats more than likely a result of his increased role on offensive, rather than anything else.
I’ve got a feeling that Pettigrew will train damn hard and put up some pretty crazy numbers at the combine for someone who weighs 260lbs.
His value will depend on where he goes. Pettigrew’s never going to put up insane stats, but he could become a touchdown machine. Considering how well he blocks, he’ll be in on every down and should quickly grow into a top tier safety valve.
His big frame, should allow him to make space and shield the ball from defenders. He’s not a defense stretcher, but rather a complete tight end.
It’ll be interesting to see his vertical jump at the combine, as this should really increase his stock. He’s a solid second rounder, but could slip into the end of the first round if teams see he’s capable of jumpin’
Pettigrew compares well to Pittsburgh Steelers, and Virginia Grad, Heath Miller. Both are big bodies that have good hands, and are gunna block for you.
