Jermaine Gresham – Tight End – Oklahoma Sooners (Big 12)

OU Sooners Jermaine Gresham
Height: 6′6″
Weight: 262lbs
Best 40 Time: 4.67s
Projected 40 Time: 4.75
Projected Bench: 20 Times @ 225lbs
Gresham has put up gaudy stats during his time with the OU Sooners.
His 2007 year yielded 37 catches for about 500 yards, and 11 TDs.

His Jr. season of 2008, was an across the board improvement as he was a huge part of the Sooner’s success: 12 Tds, almost 900 yards, and 58 receptions. His increased role actually lead to an increase in YPC, as he went for about 15 yards per.
Gresham is another prototypical tight end, although his blocking isn’t quite as refined as Pettigrew’s. All of the potential is there though, as his huge frame at 6′6″, 262lbs lends itself nicely to the TE position.
Gresham, does have better hands than Pettigrew and seems to catch it in perfect stride. He’s incredibly fluid in his routes, but as with anyone who plays in such a prolific offence — routes tend to get sloppy after the game is put away.
Gresham could easily put up the best numbers of any of the great tight ends coming into this draft, as he probably has the most raw talent but he might need a year to really understand his role on a team.
Jermaine Greshman may decide to stay for his senior season, which i’m sure he’ll announce after the National Championship. He should be the top TE going into next year if he decides to stay and may well be drafted ahead of Pettigrew this year, depending on his combine.
He compares nicely to Mercedes Lewis, when considering his skill set. Fortunately, he doesn’t appear to have a case of the dropsitis, like Mercedes had displayed in spurts at UCLA.
He would fit well in any West Coast team, and Philly is the one that seems to jump off the paper. I’m not certian whether or not he can take on some of the stronger OLBs in the league in the blocking game. He’ll be a first year contributor if he can really put up solid combine numbers, not just speed but strength too.
