A lot of these high level teams schedule some pretty bad games in between big conference games to almost get a rest. Texas played Ohio State University a couple years ago, and it worked out well for them. Really, if you have a marquee matchup once every 2 or 3 years on your non conference schedule -- you're good to go. You dont want to be the team that books in Penn State, while your opponents book Northwestern, Minnesota, and Indiana. Hey, the Computers actually think Texas’ schedule is tougher than OU’s schedule, but the Human’s, myself included, see Oklahoma as having a tougher schedule.

Seems like after a few years Mack Brown would learn (but sometimes I think he's not real smart--like when it's late in the 4th quarter and Texas is comfortably ahead and he calls McCoy's number to run the ball.) I remember the year that Mack Brown canceled the Hawaii game because he wanted a weaker opponent. For 2009, Mack Brown has scheduled Wyoming (current Power Ranking 106), Central Florida (current Power Ranking 102), Texas-El Paso (current Power Ranking 84) and Louisiana-Monroe (current Power Ranking 110). Who wants to even buy a ticket to go watch the Horns beat these guys 55 to 6? There's no sport there.
